Examination of, and reporting on, glass artefacts from excavations, collections, or stray finds of glass, for excavation or research projects.
This includes glass artefacts and material from prehistory to the late medieval and early modern periods, including beads, bangles, millefiori, glass studs and mounts, enamels and evidence of glassworking. Types are identified and are placed in context with comparable material from Ireland and overseas.
Advice is also given on analysis of glass and the most relevant studies on glass, particularly those involving chemical or elemental analysis. Such analysis has thrown much light on the origin and development of glass in Ireland.
