Monitoring

Monitoring programmes are a frequent condition of planning, particularly where the development has been shown to be in an area of archaeological potential or relating to a site or urban area listed in the record of monuments and places. If the development site is above a certain threshold or is a linear scheme, it will usually require monitoring, while the nature and extent of the monitoring recommendation will usually be determined by the National Monuments Service and will also usually relate to the findings of the EIAs and site assessments carried out previously.
