All the excavations carried out by this company have related to development. We excavate sites and features found during archaeological monitoring on roadways, drainage schemes, underwater schemes, housing developments, etc., or sites identified through trial testing and geophysical survey. Generally the developer is advised to avoid known archaeological sites, but the major excavation we carried out at Rosepark, Balrothery, Co. Dublin in 2000-2001 of an early medieval enclosure was a listed monument for which excavation was permitted.
Though excavation is a major source of information for the archaeological profession and the public in general, it can be a costly and time consuming venture for the developer. We place great emphasis on the time and cost management of excavation and monitoring schemes, anticipating problems at an early stage and developing strategies to ensure that programmes are adhered to.
Post excavation work is an important part of the project and again, clear programmes are developed to manage the production of the full report with specialist analysis.
