Kilronan Harbour was scheduled for development in order to improve the safety of the harbour by means of providing shelter. In order to carry out the construction works, the harbour at Killeany Bay was required to be dredged. Monitoring of the dredging works in the harbour, in the area of the construction of the inner pier as well as in the area of construction of the new outer breakwater took place by Judith Carroll and Company.

Monitoring of all marine works took place on a full time basis from August to December 2008 on dredging works underwater. In addition to this, as advised by the Department of the Environment, metal-detecting of a percentage of the sea-bed material dredged and brought on land to form an extended parking surface, also took place.
