Founded in 2001, the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland (IAI) is the professional organisation representing archaeologists working throughout Ireland. Its members adhere to its Code of Practice. It holds annual conferences on topics for discussion by the profession. It develops CPD programmes and produces an annual journal, the Journal of Irish Archaeology.

The Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland was founded in 1849 in Kilkenny 'to preserve, examine and illustrate all ancient monuments and memorials of the arts, manners and customs of the past, as connected with the antiquities, language, literature and history of Ireland.' It is the earliest Irish archaeological association and is an invaluable resource for those interested in archaeology, along with its library, its programme of lectures and events as well as its annual journal.
